Mothers Day

Yesterday was a lovely Mothers Day! Although I'm not officially a "mother" I was still treated like one yesterday! Josh was so kind and made me breakfast in bed. It was fun to wake up to yummy oatmeal pancakes from him.

We went to church and in sacrament meeting they informed us of a little surprise they had for us. Normally they hand out either a flower, pamphlet, CD or some little thing that sadly..gets thrown away after a few days. Our ward had secretly planned for all the Young men and Elders Quorum to take care of our callings during 3rd hour. I walked into the gym expecting to just have class with all the Relief Society (since I teach primary) and maybe a bar of chocolate or something but boy was I wrong. The men had set up chairs and tables (with tables clothes) and on each table there were boxes FULL of candy. Our table had peanut butter cups, chocolate covered blueberries and toffee. There were tables FULL of food. I took a picture (of my second plate) but we had lots of fruits, vegetables, dips and dessert! They had brownies and strawberry short cake. Both were delicious!

They had a few young women and primary come and serenade us and a few young men read us poems. One little  boy wrote the absolute sweetest little poem about Mothers. It brought tears to my eyes that such a sweet little boy could have such happy and wonderful feelings towards mothers! I told him I really enjoyed his poem but he was a little to nervous to respond. lol

They also informed us that they know we would like to help clean up be we were not allowed to. We were only allowed to throw away our plates, but that was it! lol I was beyond impressed with such a sweet bishopric who would go to such effort to even THINK of this. I'm still amazed that they did all that. I guess men aren't as helpless after all! It's all a trick! hahah

As I was leaving a few young men commented that I wasn't a mother yet and I relied with "My kids are in heaven!" Then one of Josh's brothers told me "If i'm not an uncle, then your not a mother!" I was a little surprised because his brothers never say anything about "wanting to be uncles" just quite yet.

It was also Josh's youngest brothers birthday yesterday so we went and had dinner and cake with his family. We were all sitting around the table and Adam told his mom about what he said to me and we all started laughing but of course more jokes followed. Jordan (the oldest) told us we have to wait 3 years because "when he leaves for his mission in a year the baby won't even remember him" but then Adam was like "wait how long does it take? oh 9 months...okay" and he started planning something in his head. Then Josh starts calling Danielle "Aunt Danielle" and everyone was talking as if we just announced we were pregnant or something (which we are not). I told everyone "just let us know when THEY are ready for us to have kids" and they all laughed again. After dinner the kids (and Josh the BIG kid) all went and played ball outside. I just sat back and watched them and was the occasional "referee". A few times they would accidentally throw the ball towards me and I told them "They can't be uncles if they kill me!"

All in all it was a fun day to spend with family and just enjoy the beautiful weather! I'm so thankful for the blessings we get as we live out here in Missouri!
