Our verr dear friends The Schmutz invited us to go to "Pyro Palooza" with them. Pyro Palooza is a firework show that this man has been putting on for 16 years. He does local firework shows during the 4th of July holiday and whatever he has left over, he uses for Pyro Palooza! It's free but it's not open to the public. You either have to be famiy, work with him or friends of either to two. Our friend Chris works with him and luckily we made the cut! hahah The drive was about an hour away.
Josh wasn't digging the "let's take pictures" idea
This is my friend Katelin. She is a little younger than me but yes, looks like she is 12. That's why we love her! hahah
Road trip!
When we got there we even got a special tour of the fireworks.
This is the mother board that controls all the fireworks
These are only some of the fireworks
Isn't that huge?
This one was the size of a bowling ball
This firework was almost 5 ft, Katelin posed as a "Look at me! I'm 5 ft" prop so you could see how big the firework was.
We got there extremely early to get good seats, so glad we did! We had fun hanging out and having NOTHING to worry about
Katelin and I
I snapped a pic when Josh wasn't looking. It looks like he is posing huh? lol
Before the fireworks started they shot off a anvil. They put one anvil on another and put a firework in the middle and the goal is to get it to land right back where it started. The boom is really loud and I actually SERIOUSLY thought it was coming for my head so the video isn't the greatest.
They got us some glow sticks! It reminded me of when I was younger. We would go to the firework show in Downtown Beaumont with my Dads family and we would sometimes get glow sticks.
There were TONS of people there, we were on the front row! lol
The fireworks finally started! I love the ones that make a crackling nose after they boom. They had ALL different kinds!
These made a loud screeching noise
Since everyone was so quiet and listening to the fireworks that whenever there was a break and someone said something in the crowd everyone could hear. After the first "round" a little boy yelled to his parents "Thanks so much for taking me!" Everyone laughed at that.
On the second round when there was a break another kid said "This is so fun!" We all laughed again.
Another kid said when there was a break "I'm glad it's over" in a excited voice, even though there was still more to come! It was so funny to hear people's comments when they didn't expect you too hear them.
Some people were sitting right in front of the fence that seperated the field the fireworks were on and the field we were sitting in. Well some of the fireworks were so close that it shot at a little boys leg and the firemen had to run over and help heal the burn. I felt bad for the poor little boy.
This is where they all scrambeled
Also some of the fireworks after the popped were SO big that the fireworks actually went down and touched the ground
After a few rounds the dry grass caught on fire. This image is turned to the right but the show had ot stop so the firemen could run out and put the fireout. Everyone was in suspense cause the show stopped and the fire trucks started up and sped out to the field.
But it wasn't too serious and we got back to the show!
And then it happened again, the ground caught on fire again, this time in several places.
We had so much fun just hanging out and watching fireworks with the Schmutzs. It was fun having a picnic and hanging outside and not having to worry about anything since it was a Saturday evening and we had nothing going. It felt like a little mini vacation almost because we "packed up the car" with our lunches and chairs and blankets and drove about an hour away and we even stopped at the convenience store afterwards and all got treats (something we ONLY do on road trips). We are so glad we were invited to this exclusive fireworks show!
