When we started our garden we started most of our plants from seeds, where as all the gardens around ours started as prebought plants that have been growing for some time. We would always compare our garden to the gardens around us and we thought we MUST be doing something wrong because our garden just wouldn't grow fast enough!
Lately our garden has just been blossoming! It's so excited to see new plants growing because we can't wait to pick them.
Sadly our squash has been taken over by ants so it didn't survive very long. (Squash is one of my favorites)
We have lots of pepper plants and it seems right as the pepper is getting big some little creature or something eats it so the sides are all rotten and ruined. We picked one big pepper that was huge but had a tiny hole on the side. We thought "let's just cut off the hole" and still use it. On the way home a spider crawled out and scared the heck out of me (until I killed it)! I immediately threw it out the window and we said "never again!"
Here is the first vegetables we've picked!
A red pepper and a tomato
We have already learned new things that we want to do next year. We were a little disappointed the YMCA didn't do anything to keep the weeds from growing into our garden seeing as it's their land and it was their project, we're just renters! :)
Also I would probably want to put something around our fence to keep the rabbits out, also seeing as the YMCA didn't get a fence with smaller holes, cause the bunnies are hopping in our gardens a lot.
Anyways we are proud of our selves for doing so well this year with our garden. I think today Josh said he picked some more peppers and we have 2 more tomatoes we picked at home. I wish we had enough tomatoes to make canned tomatoes, but maybe next year!

Yay! I'm so glad you got rewarded with your cute little garden! Sorry about the bugs, that sucks!! We never got around to planting our seeds because it was in the middle of Utah's scorching summer, so we might just wait until next year
Our jalapeno plants didn't produce spicy peppers either. Our garden produced enough to enjoy in the moment. Not to stockpile. Good job y'all.
Lovely vegetables even if there weren't many. Great learning opportunity, though. I'd call it a success.
