Green Hair

I decided to be daring and dye the end of my hair lime green, like it?

Yeah me neither! I actually didn't "decide" to dye my hair, the pool did! Without even asking me, pools these days.

Want the truth? Okay. We were on vacation last week in Myrtle Beach (post to come later) and I was in and out of the pool all week long. No big deal, no green hair.

On our way home from vacation we stopped at a hotel and went swimming. As I got into the hot tub I started coughing because I could smell all the chlorine in there and it kind of got in my throat but continued I lounging a round for a while then got out and showered and cleaned up. After I washed my hair Josh nonchalantly says "your hair looks green." I look down and sure enough, i've got lime green hair! I thought "seriously? I swam ALL week long and we are a few hours away from home and NOW my hair turns green?!?!" I thought of the options:

1. Re dye my hair-no that won't work since JOSH is the one who does it, it's going to be extremely difficult for him to highlight 6 inches of green hair.
2. Go get it professionally fixed- well that will cost a FORTUNE, great!
3. Cut it-I have had long hair for the past 15 years, I can't cut my hair!

Well I quickly texted my aunt who does hair (I can thank her introducing me to my white hair, Thanks Mare!) And she said she would send me some concoctions to try.

I of course complained to the front desk who said "she'd call the manager" but I never heard back, of course. We continued our trek home.

I did research on ways to get the green out and found some interesting ones: Ketchup, Tomato sauce, Clarifying Shampoo,Lemon Juice, Baking soda....the list is endless. Well I was afraid the tomato sauce and ketchup would turn my hair red since my hair is so white so I decided to try what my aunt said and...IT WORKED! I was extremely surprised and excited since I was already thinking of things to tell people why I "decided to turn my hair green."

Recipe

1 TBSP of Dish Soap (Mine was blue which made me extremely nervous since my hair STILL looked colored with it in)
1/2 TBSP of Baking Soda/Powder (The recipe called for powder but I accidentally used Soda, so I quickly added a few dashes of the Powder to my hair

Mix together and rub it in your hair and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

SIDE NOTE: The dish soap takes FOREVER to completely come out completely, also my hair has been EXTREMELY tangled and dry no matter how many times I wash it, how many gallons of  conditioner and leave in conditioner I put in it, it's still dried to a crisp-not sure how to fix that.

After I got the green out Josh told me he was going to let me get it professional fixed if it didn't work. How sweet is he? I've only had it professional done ONCE and that's cause I bought this big bundle of salon services in college and they highlighted like 5-6 pieces of hair in the bundle. haha. Anyways my sweet husband was going to pay the outrageous salon prices. What a sweetie.

My hair turned green once in college and I ended up just dying it. It sucked. I am glad you got yours to come out!

so glad you got it out! try using some argon (moroccan) oil to rehydrate your hair. organix has a great affordable line (you can get it at walmart) that works great! they have shampoo, conditioner, & a leave-in treatment. i use their leave-in and it's amazing!
